For most people, when you think of learning English as “learning English”, it becomes a thing you should do or a thing you have to do. It’s like work. It’s annoying, and it’s not fun. Luckily, it doesn’t have to be this way. Think of your native language. You use it all the time and it is excellent. It’s true that if you are just starting out learning a new language, then there are some boring phases you must go through, but if you can understand this blog it means that your English is already pretty good. You certainly aren’t a beginner! With that said, you can and should start to incorporate English into more aspects of your life. The more you use English, the better it will become and the less it will feel like studying. You will need the dictionary less often, and you’ll have an easier time following conversations. Then you’ll really be able to use your language in fun ways, for example being able to watch and totally understand popular English movies.
Add and I try to make these podcasts fun and interesting for you for this reason. Our goal is that you don’t really feel like you are studying, even though you are. We want you to understand our sense of humor and just have fun listening. The more you listen, the better your English will be. You might not even notice your English is improving but it certainly is. When you are a kid you don’t notice you are getting taller every day, but when you look back you realize that you must have grown. It’s the same thing.
Practice reading the newspaper in English as well as practicing writing. Feel free to share any and all of your thoughts, feelings and questions with us on our free discussion forum. Remember not to worry about your writing mistakes. Just keep trying. The only mistake would be to not write anything. Hope to hear from all of you!

Hi Andrew,
I have been learning English for many years since I was a primary school student. At that time, I did not realize English is so important for my life. When I just graduated from high school and worked for a factory, not many people in my city care so much about English. To find an ordinary job such as a clerk working for a factory, salesman for a shop or else, the basic requirement was that you were able to fluently speak local dialogue. The way was possibly applied to other Asian regions in the past I think.
I am Macanese. Before Macau handed over to China from Portugal, fewer people focused on learning English. The fact is, Macau was not an international city. Over time, Economy has been getting grown and foreign syndicates invest their capitals into our region more and more for a joint venture to Casino or else. Everything has extremely been changed. Groups requires their employees can understand common English and are able to speak general English dealing with foreigners, which has been a basic employment requirement in a big company. I wish if I still were a kid, someone who is an English native speaker teaching me the way like my mom teaches me the mother language. You know, how wonderful it is. Now, my tongue has got not so softer, thus affecting my pronunciation being a little odd, which has been an obstacle in learning a good English.
The way I was studying before is only by remembering new words from magazines in relation to my working field. It is in fact a small circle I was wandering around. To enrich my knowledge of English actually is to listen more I discover, by which I find it fun and interesting. I have learnt so much of the knowledge from podcasts and stimulated my confidence to communicate more with foreigners. I have treated the podcast practice as a routine activity like the way watching TV program everyday. Thanks so much for your practical tips in blog.
