Is this Weird?

I was just reading some investment news. I’m trying to decide if I want to buy some Facebook stock. It is kind of cheap now so I was thinking it might be a decent time to buy. Some very smart people are saying now is a great time. So, I’m thinking about it…

Now I’m a bit confused. I just saw this new Facebook TV commercial on Youtube. It’s definitely “odd” to say the least. I’d love for you to watch it and tell me what you think of it.

Why would they make this?

Is it good for their brand?

Does it make sense?

Do you like Facebook more or less after watching this?

Can’t wait to hear your thoughts! (Send this link to your friends too. They are probably bored at work anyway and wouldn’t mind “wasting” a few minutes with a good laugh. I’d like to hear their comments too.)

I wonder if China232 is like a chair… Lol. If it is, I’m thinking the VIP section is more like a BMW or Porsche 911

Hi guys, this I liked extremely because it has meanings and is made with love. For me any strange thing is done by smart people with a different understanding of the world and things, so it is difficult to understand the other, but it really makes sense !!! I do not think that they will increase more people in Facebook maybe a small part, but I think they will confirm, I mean, they will enjoy it more

The fact that the TV commercial odd is still nothing. The largest problem that Mark Zuckerberg himself is much more odd.

We can’t live with love, chairs, airplanes, doorballl and other stuff in this commercial. They want that the facebook be this stuff. I think is good for they brands but only a young people will like it, because they can’t leave without write in “wall” and poke friends.

They are just saying that facebook is to meet people and not feel alone anywhere in the world. Great stuff.

Hey bloggers. OK here is my stance on this. In my opinion then yes the video is weired in the sense that, at times it does not make sense. Because if you think about it most of the clip talks about chairs and tells us what a chair is for. Then it compares a chair with Facebook, saying that a chair is like Facebook. Here is the weired part because at one point it tells us that a chair is something used to sit on and it goes on about how sometimes some people share a chair sitting on it together etc. This does not make sense. Because Facebook is not like a chair people to not sit on it. In fact the only good comparison would be true is of the clip about the bridge as its a form of connection as its links one part to another and people ue it to get across. At one point also it says that we are alone in the universe then near the end it says that actually facebook makes us realise we are not alone. I think what they were trying to say is that through Facebook so many people connect and to one another and we are not alone. However, I think they got there context somewhat wrong. But at the same time maybe they had a time limit on the add, on how long its allowed to be, and considering that, I suppose it is a good clip as the whole point of advertisments is to get peoples attention and it has done that thats why we are talking about it. Secondly I would also like to say that it is only actually weired depending on individual prespective. Some might might it a really creative piece of media.

    Thanks.

Sorry there was a slight type error on the sixth line I was meant to say do not sit on it.

Hello again. I also have another question myself. I wanted to also know who Andy is from china232.com. I mean is that just a name or is he a real person.

  12. hweeling Says:

facebook a chair? definitely! but it’s the kind where you end up sitting for too long and use as an excuse for any lack of constructive activity… in other words, the best excuse for “bumming” (i.e. being unproductive at work)!

  13. Mya Says:

I dont know why but for some reason it made me sad! Maybe because i realized after all this we all feel alone! After having all these chairs, places, community we feel dont have a real friend! They are just for spending time to forget how alone we are, but deap down we still feel alone inside!

  14. Ruiling Says:

I really love this ad without doubt, I think any ad that can remind u think about some truth in the real life r good ad. This one definately have done this! We can use a lot of other things to replace Facebook in this ad, for example, love, intellegience, responsibility etc. Some more general intangible things. We can also think about laptop, and some other high tech things that have change our lives recently!

  15. Winning232 Says:

IMHO Facebook costs nothing, but since some people already invested in Facebook they want to increase or at least maintain its value. Governments that spy on people, rich investors that promote/advertise it, companies that include Facebook in their products by default. All of them has a piece of pie in the thing called facebook. But if you look around you’ll always find alternatives for sure, like using a sofa instead of chair. You can not only seat on it, but even sleep. ;)

  16. Milan Says:

This ad is Black Magic par excellance as most of TV commercials. Full of subliminal information, forcing you to love the product voluntarily. Regardless of the product, someone is trying to make fools us. Nothing in particular against FB but the analogy with noble ideas is fake.

  17. Amanda Batista Says:

Well, I think FB is like a chair but people don’t sit on it together. In fact is like a chair in front of the window and where we stare what’s going on outside, but while we are on the chair staring life through the window we actually are not living, just watching. And we can decorate the window and ourselves while we are at the window, according to the way we want the be seen by the outsiders. But in the end we are more or less alone.

  18. Karina Says:

I liked this Facebook commercial, it is very beautiful and in some way it attracts my personal interesting because it mix with my feelings. In general, obviously this kind of commercial is really good to increase the immage of a Brand, because when you watch it, you feel like being part of it! That’s my tought.

  19. lara Says:

AND THERE’S SOME ODD THINGS that happen on facebook too – spam with invitations to join facebook from my account, friends are added without my confirm. so i start thinking of deleting my facebook account

  20. Marina Says:

I like the music and the voice. But I absolutely agree with Carola. Very smart comment. And also this video makes me feel sad and lonely.
