Website for Dating Texts?

Ok,

This is about a website that I certainly won’t be using, but then again, I’m not a chick.

I found out about HeTexted.com when I was reading some tech blogs. The site is pretty hilarious really.

Tons of girls go onto the site and write down some situation they are having with a guy and write in the EXACT text conversations they are having. This isn’t fake. This is real life.

So be careful guys! Some girl can post your texts online and get opinions from thousands of other girls on what your motives are. Ie. Are you interested in her “romantically” or not.

The site won’t let you put people’s actual names on there, but it will let you put the REAL messages. I’m 100% sure that some guys are going to get in trouble with this.

I guess the basic idea is that many girls have a hard time knowing whether or not some guy likes them. I’m not sure if guys have this problem or not. I think some do but it’s not as common.

In my experience, if a girl doesn’t like a guy, she just won’t respond to any text messages, or will just say some really short answer and will never ask a question. This is a big generalization, but that is based on my experience and from the stories of my guy friends.

What do you think about what I said above? Do you think in a “dating context” girls are more direct than guys with texting, in general of course? What are your “texting habits” when you like a guy or a girl? Do you let them know? Do you “hint” at it? Do you make them wait and “play the game”?

I’d love to hear your opinions. I don’t want to say too much more because we talk A LOT about it on the podcast.

Crazy Thinking! (In my opinion)

As you probably know, there is a big election coming up very soon in the USA. I’m really hoping Obama wins. I don’t think he’s been a perfect president at all, but the alternative is really crazy. I truly believe that.

One crazy man on Mitt Romney’s “team” said the following the other day:

“I’ve struggled with it myself for a long time, but I came to realize that life is that gift from God. And even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen.”

This guys thinks that if a girl gets raped, then she should be forced to have the baby because it was still something that God wanted to have happen.

In fairness, he doesn’t think God likes rape, but he is crazy enough to think that a poor woman who got pregnant from a rape should have to go through with having the baby. He doesn’t believe in abortion in any situation.

To me, that’s totally sick and weird.

What do you guys think about abortion?

I know that in many countries, abortion is totally legal. No one “likes” to have an abortion, but many people, including Obama, think it’s right to give women the right to choose.

In English, if you think abortion should be legal, it’s called “pro choice“. If you think it should be illegal in every situation, including rape, it’s called “pro life“.

I’m definitely a “pro choice” person, but I know that different people have different views and opinions. Even if you totally disagree with me, that’s fine. I’d love to hear your thinking. Everyone has the right to their own opinion. I’d just love to hear your thinking on the subject. I’d also like to hear what most people in your country think.

Is abortion legal in your country? What do most people there think about it?

If you are living in the USA and have the chance to vote, I hope you vote this year. It’s a very important election for not just the USA, but the whole world.

Yet another great song… Check it out!

Hey guys,

Here’s another Canadian song Add and I often listen to while we’re cooking or working out. I’m not sure why we like it, but for some reason it just kind of feels good. I like the lyrics “words of the song” as well as the feeling.

The song is by “Sam Roberts”. It’s called “Brother Down”. The song was what they call a “one hit wonder”. This is a great phrase to understand in spoken English.

If a band or singer is a “One hit wonder” it means they made one and only one song during their career that got super popular.

Some bands and singers make many great and popular songs. Many bands and singers make one song almost everyone knows, and all their other stuff either sucks or just isn’t popular. I haven’t heard a lot of music from Sam Roberts, but I do know this song and I know he’s referred to as a “One hit wonder”. Here is the video of the song. Below are the lyrics.
